I’ve never watched Grey’s Anatomy and I’ve only seen her in Knocked Up (2007) and 27 Dresses (2008), but when her filmography includes rom coms with Gerard Butler and Ashton Kutcher, I feel pretty confident in saying that they are not an ounce as good as Wish Upon a Star. It’s clearly Katherine Heigl’s best work. Clearly, in my book, it is hard to beat The Mighty Mighty Bosstones.ġ9 years later, Wish Upon a Star still stands the test of time.
And there isn’t a band member whose sole purpose is dancing around. Since I’ve never heard of them outside of this movie, they are no The Mighty Mighty Bosstones in Clueless (1995). The not-very-famous band Moonpools & Catepillars makes an appearance both on Hayley’s television screen and at the Winter Festival. The film oozes all things good in the 1990s. Who knew that a made-for-TV movie could instill so much knowledge? I learned that some kids call their parents by their first names, what stick shift is, what a hickey is, different ways to make wishes, including breaking wishbones and throwing pennies in a toilet, and that some people vandalize bathrooms with lipstick. The movie taught me so much about life in general. I was a three-year-old on The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, not a ten-year-old on a carousel. And then there was Hayley’s love interest, Simon, who is better known as the fourth brother in Hanson (I kid, I kid). I’ve always felt cool watching shows that the older kids were watching. Look who’s not grungy anymore!Īnd thanks to my older sisters, I’ve always recognized Alexia’s boyfriend, Kyle (Don Jeffcoat) as one of the hosts of Nickelodeon’s Wild & Crazy Kids. And I wish I could have worn the tall knee socks with platform heels like all of Alexia’s friends, but I was 4 years old when the movie came out.Īnd thanks to Alexia’s help, Hayley’s style went from over-sized olive green shirts to a cute floral dress with a denim vest over it. Hayley’s Winter Festival look of a red crushed velvet dress with matching coat is pretty spectacular too. Almost 19 years later, her black strappy dress for the Winter Festival dance is still fashionable. She rocked a crop top decades before girls decided it was bohemian to wear them to music festivals. The lavender tank with purple mini? My high school’s dress code was too strict for it, but it was still amazing. Only she can pull off a blue pleather vest with blue and white polka dot mini skirt TWO DAYS in a row.
